This is an opportunity to get to know ech other's topics and to eventually find out about synergies and potentials for collaborations. Screening – April 15, 2021, 7:00 pm Film: Picture a Scientist (USA 2020), a documentary by Sharon Shattuck & Ian Cheney Abstract: The film chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. Along the way, from cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we encounter scientific luminaries – including social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists – who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all. Lunch Time Talk – March 15, 2021, 12:30 pm Topic: Heute hier – morgen dort: Multilokalität als Leben an mehreren Orten Abstract: Immer mehr Menschen leben - zumindest in einer Phase ihres Lebens - an mehreren Orten, sei es aufgrund ihrer Ausbildung, ihres Berufs oder um ihre freie Zeit an einem anderen Ort zu verbringen. Diese Art der Lebensführung nennt man Multilokalität und sie ist seit rd. zwanzig Jahren Thema zahlreicher geographischer und soziologischer Studien. Viele Hochschulangehörige kennen das multilokale Leben aus eigener Erfahrung, da sie nicht selten für eine begrenzte Zeit an einem Studienort oder einem Arbeitsort tätig sind oder waren. In diesem Vortrag werden Auszüge empirischer Arbeiten eines Projektseminars vorgestellt, in dem wir uns mit multilokal Lebenden aus Berufen beschäftigt haben, die bisher selten im Fokus wissenschaftlicher Betrachtung stehen: Beschäftigte in der Landwirtschaft und im Pflegebereich.
